I was wondering if anyone could build a quad core computer with 2 monitors, i know its hard but i wanted to see what you guys could come up with. It'll be mainly for photo processing and some video editing and slightly power intensive stuff.

Q8200, Asus P5Q, 4GB of RAM, a couple of Hard drives, and 2, 19 or 21 inch Sony Trinitrons from the second hand markets, auctions, ebay etc.
Otherwise if you want two, decent monitors, suitable for photo editing, and you don't want to buy a used CRTs, then you not going to do it on that budget.

How old are the ones you have?
If they are more than 18 months old I would replace them simply because the technology has moved on.
That said, saving a few hundred dollars on drives still won't buy you a good pair of monitors.

i just bought them recently, so no problem. However my biggest dilema is processor i really wanted an i7 but i was wondering if i could get similar results with a core 2 quad? mainly i see that the difference would be the price in motherboards.......

well i have about $900 and i've already got new drives one 80gb and a WD 1TB for data.

i no longer plan on getting 2 monitors instead just a good 22" monitor or perhaps a 24 but most likely a 22. any suggestions?

An 80GB drive is not really new.... even if you buy it next week.
For a good single LCD look at the Dell budget monitor thread.

I worked this up a few weeks ago but should be fine. You can upgrade here or there if you want. Still plenty of money for a monitor or upgrades and you still get a new HDD.
For monitors the Dell 2209WA is a GREAT buy!

In2Photo's little black box there is quite the looker. I would say to go with 4x2gb modules if you plan on a lot of multitasking, but if it's just LR+PS3/4 then 4gb is fine. If you care for games only, as low as 2gb can be effective.
Since you clearly don't have enough budget, I say scrap the two monitor idea for one monitor now and getting a second much further down when you can afford it. As said, 2209WA is nice, and afforable, bu I like the 2408 better, but that's also 420 at it's cheapest.

@In2Photo: thanks for the suggestions, let me see if i can modify some things to my liking, i personally would have liked an i7 but obviously my budget doesn't cut it.
any more suggestions? if not ill be back with a tweaked version of what In2Photo gave me and see what you guys think.

The Dell 2209WA runs about $225, but apparently there is a stock problem and they have temporarily removed it from the Dell site. You may have to wait to get one.
For an i7 system you will easily be $300-$400 more than the one I listed. I spent $1100 on mine a few months ago. You could skimp on a few of the parts, but it will still be $1000.

ok following some of In2Photo's advice her's what i got:
Ram:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231166
MoBo:http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductReview.aspx?Item=13-131-329&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&SelectedRating=-1&PurchaseMark=&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&Keywords=(keywords)&Page=3
CPU:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115041
Case:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119152
PSU:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005
DVD:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151173
now all i need are a graphics card and a new fan for the Cpu because the stock sucks:
if i have enough money or if i can squeeze a bit more then i might get the dell 2209WA well see.
so suggestions for graphics card and cpu fan?

The GPU I linked to earlier should be fine unless you prefer NVidia or want something more for gaming. For photos it is more than enough. You could even go with a lesser card if you want. I bought a cheapo 3450.

I've had Asus and Gigabyte motherboards, but I think the Gigabyte developed a weird fault. My P5Q SE works perfectly. I think the pro adds firewire, raid, and a few extra ports. At the time the SE was a bit cheaper, now the pro seems to be the same price locally.

You can't go wrong with either board. I've had Asus and always liked them. the gigabyte boards get great reviews.

For a photo monitor there is no better option than the 2209WA. you might be able to find an older 20", like the WFP2007 I think it was.
