Sorry but I have to ask.

How do most of you focus when you are in the studio? What I mean is, are you leaving the camera on a tripod, focusing once, then clicking to manual for the rest of the shoot. Or do you leave the camera on a tripod and focus each shot? Or maybe you hand hold and move around to get the angle you want? I am talking about working with people......I understand products don't move much.....LOL.

I have not worked in a studio since High School (1980 with 4X5's), and I am thinking about picking up the "Busy Bee" package from Alien Bees and just jumping into it again. Any input would help.

I like a tripod and when doing glamour with the model moving i focus each time on her eyes then reframe the shot ,i set the camera on one shot , and have the tripod head just tight enough to let me move the camera in a steady motion .

If I am just shooting several frames of a tight headshot, such as doing ID photos of several people I put the camera on a tripod. If shooting someone who will be doing various poses I will go handheld because I will need vary my angle of view to show poses to best effect. In either case, I have use the custom function on my 10D to switch the focus function to the exposure lock button. I focus on the eyes and only refocus if the camera to model distance changes.
