Well I am going to take pics tomorrow of them fast little boats. I have three Camera options. Canon 5DMKII, Canon 40D. My main lens to use is 70-200f2.8L . I have a 2x and 1.4x extender. Thoughts? I am thinking the higher FPS of the 40D would be better.
For action, technique and location mean more than camera bodies. Don't worry about bodies. If you can't decide, take more than one and use more than one. Pay attention to distances, angles and lighting instead of camera bodies.

Well if you are talking boats I wanna join. If your talking fast boats I really wanna talk. Boats are what got me into photography and they are my true passion. I only have a 40D but the reason I bought it was the 6.5 fps. I wish it was faster but I can't afford faster yet! My go to lens in the 100-400. I know you said you have the 1.4 but I don't think the lens will auto focus on your 40D with it.(so I'm told) Unless you're really good at focusing as things move I wouldn't use it.

I'm not familiar with the 5D but if your auto focus will run with the TC's then I would run it. I would rather have the Auto focus then the extra picture or two that may be out of focus.

here are the boats we shoot. They are traveling at 60-100mph on the Salmon River.
