My hubby and I are off to Alaska next month. While I think I want to bring just about everything we own I am thinking maybe I should be more prudent.

Original plan:
50D and Xt
20-35 2.8L
28-135 ( hubby's favorite)
70-200 f4 is this is the one I am thinking of leaving home.
300 f4 is plus 1.4x tc
100 2.8 macro I remember the all little tings we saw the last time we were there but didn't have a decent camera to capture them or is it a waste of time to take the macro lens?
and a Benro travel tripod.

Don't have a clue to your shooting style, obviously.

But Sharon and I lived in Juneau for 13 years and I can't imagine not having the 70-200 f4 IS up there.

But that's just me.

Maybe pick up an extension tube and have the best of both worlds.

Enjoy your trip.

I'd leave the following at home: 100mm 2.8 and the 28-135mm

I am going in July also! Hope to catch some fish, and some fishing shots.

I'm bringing
5D, maybe my backup 10D also, just in case of real disaster
17-40
15mm fish
70-200 2.8 (I would definitely bring yours)
2x tc (thinking of buying a 1.4x also, the 2x is very soft)
300mm (renting it)
tripod

So, essentially everything I own other than my 50/1.4 and lensbaby.

When I was recently in Alaska most of the time I used a 17-55. The vistas are so large it is hard to get much in with the telephoto zoom. I also had a 10-22 along, but the 17mm end was usually sufficient. The wildlife is not all that accessible unless you leave the developed areas.
