My comments are
1) Nice idea, but being off center takes away from the effect of the image for me. It loses some of the balance that I would expect from a shot like that
2) I think you either need to include the feet or crop in tighter.
3 & 4 I like although I thought 4 looked a little over exposed, but I think that could be due to the sun as well.

Thanks for the response. Yes, image # 1 should have been more balanced and is off centered. I actually had people to my right so I wasunable to move over. I always become apprehensive when taking a few snaps during the National Anthem though.

I have felt for a long time that the national anthem does not belong in most sports (I do agree with it for the Olympics though), so I have no issue with snapping pics then!

I like #1. The missing legs makes 2 and 4 a bit awkward.

I really like #3, great action shot.
The only thing I would like to see is some hitters as well. I am guessing that your position was a bit static based on a comment you made already.
The wind up doesn't bother me without a leg, but the stretch throw I think would be a bit more natural with legs in the composition.

Great shots. What's most important about baseball, as in any sport, is the aspect of anticipation. You need to expect what's coming next, and you've done just that capturing the slide and getting in good position for the national anthem.

Well..I will give it a go...
#1...I was taught by Rod Mar that it is important to capture shots that shows the "sense of being there"....and I think this does that.
#2...One of the rule of sports is "eyes and balls". It is okay to capture one and it is great to capture both. This shot fails on both accounts. I would drop it. There is also no sense in cropping off the leg.
#3...This could have been a nice capture. I think it is framed wrong. Would have worked better if shot from first base, but in sports you have to capture what you can. I think the frame or two prior would be better...or maybe a frame after this one. I am thinking the 2nd baseman (or short stop) probably opened his eyes to see what happened...;)
#4....Another quote from a great sports tog Brad from sportsshooter.com.....There are 3 things that are important in sports photography.....They are backgrounds, backgrounds, and backgrounds. This one fails. You should have moved around a bit to clean up the background. One again you cropped out body parts...I am not a fan of that...I mean it can and is done...just not at a joint.
