I don't really care for the shots of people jumping, and don't understand why so many people seem to shot these. If someone cares to explain why they shot these or their clients want them feel free.

I like them because they are different than your standard portrait shot. Also, I really like the expressions people have when jumping. Here's one of my little sister at her high school graduation. She enjoyed it because none of her friends had a picture like this.

my clients just like them because it shows excitement in the image and i personally think it just something fun and natural for them to do. it gives them a break from posing in a sense

I like shooting myself jumping whenever I'm on a mountaintop or outcropping of rock.

It depends on the situation and context, I think "jumping can be over used, but it cal also be cool, here is one of mine :)

At our local Japanese garden, I met a young woman who was on a tour of the West Coast (she was from back East). She said that wherever she goes, she likes to take a picture of her jumping. Since she saw my Canon, she asked me to take a picture of her with her 5D and 24-70 brick. She jumped twice and I took 2 shots. We both went off happy.:)
