What is the current ISO setting? You might have checked that already. If so nevermind. If ISO is at 50 (or maybe 100, both should be OK), you might need to post a picture for everyone to see the problem.

I don't notice a ISO setting in (auto mode) Here's a sample, theres a white line top to bottom, but does no look grity? It was in low light, using MF... Who knows it's probley me. The orignal image is 1.5 mb.

auto setting could set the iso higher automatically, especially of darker shots (like the one you just posted). go into your menu and see if you can change that iso.

I didn't think auto mode ever used the higher iso settings? (it doesn't on my g3 so I'd imagine its the same on a g2)

If I remember correctly, auto mode sets the ISO between 50 and 200 to what's required. That is a bad thing, because ISO 200 on a G2 is quite unusable.

I normally use P mode instead of Auto (exact same thing, but allows you to use RAW, set ISO, use flash exposure compensation, ... ) and set the ISO to 50 unless I REALLY need it.

Best regards,
Andy

Yes I enjoy the "P" setting as well, I think it's the low light that's getting it's bad pic's. It's better out doors.

Yeah your better setting your camera to P- perfect shot mode, than using the Av - average shot mode or Tv - Totally crap shot mode or M - mediocre shot mode or C1 or C2 - Crap and even more crap shot mode..

Bottom,

My point being that Cider.. should really spend a little time learning to use his camera and making the most of the cameras creative zones.

I mean Auto...whats that???

95% of the time, its not camera fault but in fact user fault. Cider, perhaps go back look at previous photos exif data, see what worked what didnt, try to put the puzzle of photography for yourself together... but dont start blaming the camera.... for youoversights.. its just a camera for god sake :) rubbish in rubbish out.... know what i mean?
