Looking for some feedback good or bad. Just practicing with the 50mm 1.4 and driving her alittle crazy while she tries to read.

Not a fan of you cutting her off on the right side. But pretty good overall. I like the light.

With all due respect, all I see is the angel who blessed your $1000 lens purchase. LOL
May her goodwill spread to wives everywhere. 8-)

 *LOL* Maybe I should portrait my wife as well and hang that picture in our living room! I could justify my future lens purchase ;) .
Kidding aside. Great shooting: Natural lighting is wonderful, nice bokeh, beautiful eyes. I agree with Grego: by cutting off the right side, I feel like the whole picture is somewhat "incomplete..."

As far as her right side being cut off, who can hold a camera steady after a cup of Starbucks!!

thats very true. I was actually ducking down low to not cast a shadow on her from the light coming in. I was pushed against a wall using the 50mm so it was sorta tight- no excuse just given alittle insight.

What aperture was it?
Very nice portrait, the cutoff the right side is not good

I don't mind the cropping at all. I think I would of focused on her other eye(left),which looks like it's closer to the lens. Looking at the photo, her nose looks sharper then the eyes. How doesn't it look at 100% crop?
50mm 1.4 is a tough lens: very, very small margin of error wide open. You might try being a little farther back and then, crop in during post process. It will probably be more flattering for her(doesn't make her nose look so prominent).
Here's a nice article.

Thanks for the article, I agree about the distance issue the 50 is difficult to get just right.
I have been battling with the focus and shooting tons of photos only to find a few that had the focus I was aiming for.

Nice shot. I love the lighting, and am not as bothered by the clipping on the right side of the frame.

I like the shot, but just a quick suggestion. I don't think the cut off right side would be such an issue except it makes the whole compostion look unbalanced. If you crop it in so you you're also slighting cutting of the left, and perhaps just a little off the top, the would be a really nice simitry throught the piece...give it a shot, let see how it looks. (You don't have the IMAGE EDITING OK under your name or I would have thrown it together already..lol)
Other than that, it's fantastic.
