I don't know what I could have improved on those pictures.

It was quite dark :

I like the first shot as in posing, but the piano just draw's my attention to the background. If you had the background of the second picture i think it would have worked better.

Hmmm, i see now that it was not really a photo shoot (since there are hands on that piano) so changing the place of the player is impossible.
Then my comment is not of that great help, sorry for posting.

I prefer the second image as we can see the performer and most of the instrument. I feel getting more of the instrument and the person in the image is really important, especially in classical music. In the first, just the right and and part of the bow make the image seem incomplete.

Nice shots, especially being dark. Sharp with out any color cast and not too much motion blur. Well done, overall.

I shot it during the concert.
I could have asked to the artists to move after the concert to take pictures of them with a good background. So for this picture, it is too late but I'll think about the background for the next concert.

I find the background of the second one nearly too empty.
