A couple from Kemble on Saturday. The weather was not fantastic but displays from the Red Arrows, Typhoon, BBMF were all great. However, here are a couple of less well known machines - the Westland Wasp with the unusually exposed engine and the Sea Vixen which gave a powerful display.
These were taken with my new 50D which certainly seems to track aircraft better than my 20D when using AI servo.
C&C welcome.
Tnx

Nice pics, I had not seen a "sea vixen" until now. Beautiful aircraft.

A tad oversharpened, but nice ones.

What is the chopper? I remember many, many moons ago when I was a lad having a small model kit of one of those. Never kbnew what it was.

It's a Westland Wasp. seen with skids instead of wheels in the army as the Scout

Thanks fior the comments and thanks to BigDan for the explanation about the Wasp. I had heard of the Scout but did not realise it was such a close relation to the Wasp.
With regards to the sharpening comment from PhotosGuy, it is still a challenge for me to get it right. I have just upgraded from a 20D to 50D and the sharpening settings are diferent for different sized files. I think I sharpened the full size file and then reduced it to post on the forum. I guess I should have processed it, resized it and then sharpened it!
That being said I would be interested to know which parts of the shots you thought were oversharpened? I sometimes just concentrate on the main aircraft body and cockpit by using a mask. I certainly had a couple of goes with the Sea Vixen as the original had a halo on the lower edge of the airframe. Any comments, suggestions and tips on this subject would be very welcome.
TIA

I guess I should have processed it, resized it and then sharpened it! That's what I usually do, but look at the Stickys in the RAW & PP forum for options. For that size image, I'd start with USM 100, 0.7, 2, but there are other variations that will work. I certainly had a couple of goes with the Sea Vixen as the original had a halo on the lower edge of the airframe. I'm seeing a halo all the way around it, & on the tail of the chopper.

No Problems...I hope that you had a good weekend. I was part of the team running the weekend, and the Buccaneer that was on the static park is the one that I work on. Other than the weather most people that I spoke to had a good time.

Thanks to PhotosGuy for the feedback and tips, I see what you mean about the halo although it is significantly less pronounced than my first effort!
BigDan, It was only the second time I had been to Kemble and thoroughly enjoyed the show, I know it was the first time that the show has run over two days and hope that the organisers found this to be a success.
Thanks to everyone for their comments

Preliminary figures are looking like it was worth putting the extra effort in for the two day show. The Airport have already announced that next year will also be two days. It was very hard work, but good fun with the great team of volunteers that we have on the Events team. It's just a pity I only got about 200 shots over the 7 days that I was on site, but that just show how busy we were. Hopefully, I'll make it up at RIAT in the next few weeks.
