Lens for indoor car show

Hi,

I will be going to the MPH Motorshow later this year at the NEC the UK. I am thinking about investing in a new Lens for the occassion can anyone make any recomendations.

I am looking at the Canon Canon EF 17-40mm f4 L USM Lens, what are your thoughts?

i like the canon 16-35mm f/2.8 more. faster lens :) what camera will you be pairing the lens up with?

Yes camera model is important. Flash is bad for reflections, so I'd get a lens that is f2.8 or faster. I'd rent a 17-55 for cropped body or a 24-70 for FF.

or if you're not brand loyal, you can try the sigma 24-70mm f/2.8, or sigma 30mm f/1.4. i have both those lenses and they've worked great for me. 30mm is very limiting though. if you have a 40/50d body or better, you can bump the iso to 400 and it will still look good whereas if you bump your xti/xsi to iso 400 the pics will be horrible.

Like most indoor shows, the light in there will probably be horrible. I'd try to go on the Friday before with a tripod & would probably shoot at f/5.6-8, so a faster lens wouldn't be necessary.
The 40D should be able to handle ISO 1600 OK as an alternative. Need an exposure crutch? (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=89123)
