Thanks for sharing.. you've got some great action! Good shots! Those last two teeter pix show some great attitude and action! The others do too.. I don't know if it's the same w/agility as it is with shooting horses over jumps, where they want to see more of the jumps .. (where it shows the relationship from the ground) . (?) .. but the tight shots showing expressions is kind of different and nice too.

These are very well done!, how low to the ground are you when you were shooting?

You know, I'm not really sure if people prefer one way or the other. I've gotten some shots with more of the obstacle in them that I like but for some reason personally I like the more up-close and personal ones. Good question though, and something I'm going to research.

You done really well. I like them all.

Thanks!

Thanks, I'm kneeling on one knee for all of these... so ~3' from the ground.. just about the same height as the dogs' heads.

I really like the teeter shots! I was shooting a NADAC trial and they don't use the teeter anymore :-(

Most are very good just the one with the car in the BG bothers me. Dogs looked like they had a blast!

Yep, I love both those teeter shots too, and the one with the IG over the jump, I'm impressed with the focus on that. I always have trouble with those white ones...

Thanks everyone! I decided to focus on the teeter because I hadn't gotten a lot of practice of dogs on them. Trying to really prepare for the trial in August where I'm the show photographer. I have one maybe 2 more trials that I'll be going to before the August trail to get some more practice in :)

Here is the entire photo set from the day.. a high percentage of teeter shots. One of the things that bugged me is that I took most of the teeter shots from my knee so I could be just about even with the teeter as the dog tipped it.. but that meant I got more of the cars/people/tents in the background. I was hoping that I had a good enough DOF to not make them so distracting...

Would help if I posted the link :)

Great shots!

What was your technique for these shots? Were you prefocusing on a spot or following the dogs?

Thanks!

All these I followed the dog to the obstacle using continuous AF.

Wow. I need more practice doing that. Many times when I follow the dog I lose focus due to it locking on an obstacle, especially with the teeter.

Wow. I need more practice doing that. Many times when I follow the dog I lose focus due to it locking on an obstacle, especially with the teeter.

I try to set myself up someplace where I can get a clean shot of a couple of obstacles in a row or someplace I can get good angles on a couple others. Part of that is choosing a place where I can more or less follow the dogs for a little bit before the entry into the obstacle without anything else getting in the way. I don't find small things (like poles from jumps) cause the AF to lock because I'm tracking the dog and it doesn't have enough time to even know something so small crossed into view.

Not sure if that helps at all..hope it does.. thanks for the comments!
