I was at a wedding practice dinner and the people at the table across from me all got up to go to the bar (http://orgsvet.com/?go=bar). When they did, I noticed how awsome the light looked as the sun set. So I grabed my camera (http://stphork.com/?go=camera) and took a shot. I uploaded the image and I was EXTREEMLY happy with the results.

I really like the light, glass, window, and DOF. But I'm not sure about the darkness taking up the majority of the photo. This is one of those shots I will end up looking at several times in the next few days to make up my mind.

Thank you for the comment. There is a lot of dark space in the back, and Personaly I like this because there is a little hint of the window in the background. But I could have tried it from another angle; unfortunitly I can't now. But yeah, thanks for the comment.

I really like the old, classy feel. As I scrolled up, I think I liked it better without the dark top. It has much more visual impact cropped. I moved it up and down on the screentrying to decide where I liked it cropped. I think maybe right at the bright vertical line. Just my opinion, but I think the light on the glasses is great. The dark napkin really adds to the shot. Almost like selective color.

A lot of people feel the same way about the dark space. I see what you are talking about with croping just ubove the chairs highlight in the background. It would give it kind of a medium format look to it because it would end up being just about square.
Thanks for your comment and ideas.

was that hand held or with a tripod? What kind of camera were you using?

Thanks BottomBracket.

It was hand held. There was a good amount of light coming in through the window. It was about 1 hour- 1/2 hour befor sunset, so the light was pretty intense, but not over baring.
I also have the Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM. It has image stablizers so that it corrects for slight camera shakes do to the normal shaky hands that most people have. So it I don;t need to carry a tripod with me aas much as I used to have. It's kinda cool tho too, when you go to take a picture, you hear all the little motors in the lens moving the glass around ever so slightly. Also, the camera I have is the Digital Rebel.
