This looks like a juvenile, less than 1.5 years old. I notice it has two leg bands. Is it a captive?

I have a place about ten miles away from me where they are thick as flies. There must be six or eight nests in the trees about ten feet off the ground.

yep, a juvenile. he lives in a bird sanctuary. i think it's a yellow crested night heron.
