hello I just bought a s400 digital elph on ebay (used). I am kind of worried that it will not be in great shape i.e. the lens might be messed up or it will not take the best picture at certain times. What I want to know is if there is a way to test the camera for everything once I get it? I am a newbie and do not know alot on digital cameras and would like to dip in my interest more into photography but i need a working camera that would help me out in the future. I paid $200 and it comes with an extra battery and a 256mb card, I was actually thinking that i got a great deal, but at the same time i was tinking that he was hiding something for offering me a great deal  ANY HELP?

well ebay is notorious for getting good deals so there is a good chance its legit and working.
However you should always read through the description carefully and also make sure you ask the seller questions about any defects. If you ask, then the person is not allowed to lie, and if he/she does then ur entitled to ur money back.
When u get it, check the outside and see if it is physically okay, or as described in the auction. Scratches on the exterior are common in used cameras and shouldnt be of worry. Inspect the lens carefully. Make sure when ur looking at the lens u dont look at it face down, tilt it on every angle imaginable so u can see any small scratched on the lens or any scratches u cant see when u look straight forward. Dont mistake dust or dirt for scratches, they can be easily removed.
Then take a few shots on auto and check them out on ur computer. If all is good, then u got ur deal.

well i did look at the description and well i did not see anything bad, i really do not mind normal wear and tear but the description did show some scratches on the display but nothing that will affect my picture taking abilitiesl. but i will look into checking the lens, what kind of picture effect do i get on the pictures if the lens is messed up?
thanks for your answers :)
