Hi,

Been looking into finally getting some filters for the front of my L's and i just thought that id run this pass you guys first to see if there wouldnt be any adverse affects etc to the thought. Im going to get some of the Hoya 77mm and 67mm Pro1 digital filters UV's which seem as good as any to get. Which are fine as i understand. but im also going to get a CL polariser at the same time. Would i be ok in buying a 77mm and using a step down ring to use on the 67mm without any adverse affects.?

After searching through the threads as well for the above topic, i have also found some interesting threads about the ND grad filters etc
http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=224448&highlight=polariser+adapter+ring

Again would i be ok buying a cokin to fit 77mm and using the step down ring to use with the other lens if needed without any adverse affects?

I also have a cokin holder but it was to fit the 58mm on my film camera when the solar eclipse came to the UK in 2000 at the solar filter i have. The ID is 75mm and has the interchangable ring that slots in from the top. could it be any use at all????

thanks

markyb555,
I occasionally use my B+W 77mm Kaesemann Circular Polarizer on my 58mm filter mount lenses with no problems (with a 58mm to 77mm Step-Up Ring Lens-to-Filter/Converter). :)

I use step down rings on both my 67mm and 77mm CP filters. never noticed a single issue when doing it that way.

as for the Cokin filter system, I bought rings in appropriate sizes for each of my lenses just to make life easier when using the Cokin system. all the cokin rings fit into each other and then fit snugly into one of the filter wallet pouches.

Thanks

Thats a pretty bad over sight on my part to be honest. Making it harder then it needed to be. Thats a defiantly easier way of using the cokin system than me swapping and changing the ring overs like i previously thought.
