The man who shot her told police he thought he was shooting at coyotes.
Gotta wonder how he screwed that one up

Strange measurements used in that article. Why use of a fourth of an inch? What's wrong with a quarter or .25

Wow. Just scanned through the massive Flickr post and updates. She's very lucky to be alive and it's good that she survived as she did not deserve to be shot, let alone die.

I hate when those pink and bright yellow coyotes walk bipedal on my property.

I'm confused Sam. I have no clue what shooter you are talking about? Is it the person shooting the gun or is the person shooting with the camera? *L*

That pisses me off to no end. I own firearms, and safety is a very basic, extremely important thing. I'm a bit nutty about it. The bare fundamentals of firearm safety are MATT:
1. M: Muzzle control. Always point it in the safest possible direction when not shooting.
2. A: Always respect it as if it's loaded. Always.
3. T: Target identification: be certain of your target, what's behind, in front, and around it. Yeah, you too Chaney.
4. T: Trigger guard - keep your finger out of it unless you're squeezing off a shot. The habit of "indexing" would eliminate the vast majority of accidental discharges. Kids run around with toy guns and their finger on the trigger all the time, and that becomes a hard habit to break.
The other rules are about correct ammo, correct storage, and not doing things that screw up your ability to obey 1-4.
Huge failure on #3 there.
