Well, I'm an A95 user. Most people who are using that pieces of art like 10D, or 20D or even Rebel XT doesn't even know the specifications of an A95 :D ( and I guess is right - if I had an EOS 350D I wouldn't be curios about those little toys called compact digital cameras  )

Anyway, this little toy use zoom lens with maximum focal length 23.4 mm and maximum aperture (at maximum focal length ) f/4.9.

So it is obvious that in pretty all situations (except macro modes) the DOF will be pretty deep ! :)

And the only ways to correct that and to get a shallow DOF will be :
- to buy a real camera with some good lenses ( yeah, I wish !)
or
- to try to correct in photoshop or similar.

I've tried last option. And please people, tell me your opinions. First of all I'm interested if this DOF obtained in photoshop seems too artificial.

Thank you.

Is that lens blur you applied? As for the artificial, alas, it does look that way :( But for us compact camera users its either deep DOF or artificial shallowness ;) Nice work you did there with the car, I like it !

I've used blur tool in photoshop. And for the sepia one I've used Melacholytron plug-in :)

Not bad. Try applying gaussian blur to a mask, possibly blending it with the original. I think you may want to clone out the background leaves close to the c-pillar of the car. They look a little weird when blurred, and it might help in you quest to get the car to pop. Pretty good so far though, and I really like the sepia. It works nicely with the surroundings.

the sepia shot almost looks like the car is a model and not a life size car.

Well, browsing "Post procesing and printing" section in this forum I've seen somebody's post saying about "Virtual Photographer" plugin.
So I've downloaded from http://www.optikVerveLabs.com
And it's a freeware.

I think this plugin is quite fantastic. I've managed to give my image a much more aged look (IMO).
Tell me what you think.

hey amn i think the sepia and last one look great. the only real problem i see is that tree in the background on the right of the sepia one. they almost look like infrared film was used or something.

Why not sell your a95 for 350 and put in $250 and pick up a used rebel? you will love it.

yeah you cant get an xt for 600, but you can get a 300d. ive seen them for $500 (body only) and the zoom lens for $70. so 570 for a rebel with kit lens.

Don't remember exactly but it was an B/W filter with a soft look. Kind of like it ! :)
Tomorrow when I'll be at the office I'll tell you exactly.

I like the sepia and the third pic. They look authentically aged.

It looks almost at first as if you took a picture of a toy car in a toy setup! hehe...neat
