I posted on this forum before about camcorders I've been looking at. I asked for recommendations and didn't get much help. I'm looking for a SD £250 camcorder for my dad who needs it for trips/family/holiday. I've now done a lot of research and narrowed it down to just 2 camcorders but I do not know which one is best.

I have looked for video samples of the 2 camcorders on Youtube but could only find samples on the JVC. Please can someone spend a few minutes looking over the specifications of both camcorders and tell me which is best spec wise? Both are the same price!

Thanks so much! I want to order this in the next few days and do not want to make the wrong decision.

its really even... the JVC has a slightly better sensor, the sony has a slightly better lens, otherwise they seem to be a wash really...

so your decision seems to be POSSIBLY better image quality from the JVC, or a more useful zoom lens on the sony..

Based on information on another forum, I will not longer be considering that Sony because the JVC has a larger chip (CCD) of 1/6".

I really appreciat the response people, thank you!

The Sony has been knocked out but please I am sorry to do this but can you compare that JVC to this sony? Again, both same price and both are now 1/6":
