Sure, somebody. I enjoyed my brief encounter with Belgium. The photos are OK but I think the castle lacks snap. Not enough contrast for my liking. And it looks crooked.. The composition has it centered up which isn't generally the best place for the subject - rule of thirds, golden mean, etc, etc. - all just suggestions mind you.
Second one about the same - no snap. And again it looks crooked. (Perhaps I should check my desk/monitor). I'm not sure how much they suffer from compression but there seems to be a lack of crispness in both. That could also just be the lack of contrast.
I just grabbed them and applied some curves and the castle came up nicely. Couldn't really say the field did.

Yep agree with Titus213 on this one. I found a 1 degree CCW straighted things up and simple auto curves improved the castle shot quite a bit. I also found by cropping the image so that everything to the LHS of the tree is lost, and placing the castle door close to the bottom RHS thirds point improved the composition. It made the castle look more "threatening".
PS; lived in Belgium for 9 months and tasted 500 different Belgian beers while I was there! Still recovering.

I like the second castle picture a lot better than the first. The sky is a little bleak in both, I wonder if there would be more color at closer to the end of sunset or the beginning of sunrise?
That could just be jealousy talking though because I don't have any castle to take pictures of.

Composition is definitely better (IMHO). Colors still aren't there for me. Here's what I did with it. Let me know if you would rather I take this down....
The castle is the draw. This loses some detail around the base but makes the structure more interesting.
