Is it just me or does anyone else find the standard Hoya, B+W et al filter boxes horribly difficult to open?
Is there a product available that (for instance) holds 3x 77mm filters with dustproofing, shock absorption and ease of access?
If not, I shall invent it! LOL
Cheers in advance.

I use these (http://www.adorama.com/GBSFWP.html?searchinfo=Slinger) from Adorama.

Tamrac has a filter wallet that will hold three 77mm filters...attaches to your belt (I clip mine to my backpack waist strap), fully padded, very protective.

I second the Tamrac S.A.S. holder. It is just perfect for 3 77mm filters.

You might consider the aluminum metal filter caps at www.camerafilters.com or www.filterstackers.com. Filter stacker consists of a 2-metal caps (male/female) and are secured in between caps. Caps are threaded on both sides securing multiple filter caps together. Great setup, provides excellent protection especially for expensive CPL filter.

They also make a pouch that holds five filters up to 82mm.

I have the same one Jon has and I have 5 77mm filters, so I have to have a good wallet and this one is just right to put in a big bag.

A lot of it will boil down to what you want. With a large wallet, you'd pretty much need to keep it in your bag or pack, limiting quick access. With a smaller pouch that clips to a belt or pack strap, you can easily grab a filter and mount it to your lens without losing a step. Lots of available choices, just depends on what you're looking for... Here's a link to the one that I referenced earlier:

The wallet I got has a string on it and I hang it on my tripod, if I'm using one, or around my wrist if I have to change cards quickly. It's got a loop for hanging on a belt loop, I've never used that, but having 10 cards isn't a lot. I use them all at events that last more than 4-5 hours. It's actually very comforting to have all the cards numbered and ready to go.

What do people usually do for GND filters and 77 mm lenses?

Too bad the Tamarac SAS isn't sold directly by Amazon in the U.S.

Are you limiting yourself to Amazon? I bought mine from B&H...IIRC, it costs about $13 or so. Here's a link to B&H:

Amazon is great because I can get shipments in one or two days with Prime. So my whim purchases (which this would be since I have one already) are hear with little wait time ;)

I use LowePro's wallet which is similar to the wallet Jon posted. That wallet is good for storage, but for quicker access, I clip an Optech Filter pak to my belt loop. My UV filter stays on the lens most of the time, but when I need a filter it's usually the CP. The Optek pak is nice because it keeps two filters handy for quick use. I keep a 77mm CP and a 77mm GND filter in the pak. I've found it's far easier and faster to access the filters using the Optech than going in my bag, opening the wallet, etc.

So I picked up the Tamaron case. Great case, nice and compact so I'm happy.
Thanks,
