Should I get a 2gb Hitachi Microdrive or a SanDisk Ultra II 1gb card? Why?

I keep hearing "I've heard that break easily" or "The MagicStor is no good" -- How about Hitachi?

I don't shoot in crazy places or tough climates or terrain. I just pop it in the camera and leave it until I get home.

I do have a magicstor, that now I use only for non important shots just because I cannot exchange it and I am waiting for it to fail (as of today, about 2K shots and still working, BTW). If I do something more serious, I use Sandisk UltraII CFs.

Well, SanDisk has the lead, but I would like to hear personal problems instead of hear/say.

I have both (actually 1 GB IBM & 4 GB Hitachi); I voted SanDisk as much because it'll also fit in your A95, which IIRC the Hitachi won't. I'm also assuming that you have enough other CF cards that the 1 GB will give you enough storage, with some head room, for a normal shoot. If it'll leave you counting those last few frames, or worrying about deleting files during the day to make room, then get the Hitachi.

I have a Sandisk 128mb, 256mb, and 512mb ultra 2

Because a harddrive that size is fragile as hell!

Read the above links, they are not as bad as you would think. The operating tolerances for flash and microdrives are nearly the same. The big difference is vibration tolerance.

I believe the best use for a microdrive is to shim up the short leg on my computer box.

I would not trust it for much of anything else.
