"Current events" page?

After what has happened in the news in DC recently, it got me wondering. Do we have a current events area for local people to share their photos of things happening in their area? I only mention it as it seems fitting for a photography website. Some amazing photos have come from current events, for example the Scott Kalitta photos in the transportation section. Very powerful photos, minding the tragic loss of life.

Just food for thought.

Yeah, something like that where we can see better photos than some of the press photos.

Hmmmmm. I know the difference in (legal) usage between editorial and fine art, etc. I'm wondering if POTN would qualify or if there could be a legal problem posting some photos here.

Correct. Regardless of the legal aspects we have a rule here that says if you do not own the photo or have permission you cannot imbed it here. You can link to it on the originating website.
