Nothing real artistic about this first shot, as it's just a basic overview of a carshow.
What makes this car show kind of special to myself and my partner Robert C. is that we were the actual promoters of this show.

Nice looking cars but nothing artistic like that really grabs me or has the "wow" factor.

Thanks BB. Yes! They can be QUITE expensive. Especially if you buy them finished.
If you're willing to do most of the work yourself, they're still moderately expensive, but almost affordable. :D

Actually, You were pretty close. Robert is the guy with the Yellow shirt that is walking away from behind the man with the trophy. ;)

Marie, These are some of the LARGEST Mickey Thompsons tires that I have seen as well. These tires are built with a soft compound rubber, so when heated up get real sticky for excellent traction.
how many cars turned out altogether ?
There were slightly more than a hundred, and Art, who is our mentor, as well as a HUGE help, and the promoter of much larger venues like Super Run, said if this was on a Saturday we probably would have been 3 to 4 times that many, but this was our first, so we were happy with it. :D

did anyone sponsor the rally ? No! We did it all.
prizes ? Yes, Aside from trophies, we had a working antique traffic signal from the 50's, a real fire hydrant that you can set in the yard and hook your garden hose to, a real antique street sign, as well as a lot of smaller stuff to give away.
Here's Robert on the left, presenting the parking meter to the winner.

Thanks for your comments Marie. :D

These may not be great from an artistic point of view, but they are still great shots. Such cool cars and showing pics of something you promoted is good, both hobbies in one!
I love the last shot. Not sure if the two fat tyres on the back are best, or the two baby ones on the front. Thanks for sharing.

Having tried to repair rust holes in a '72 VW I can really appreciate the work in these. Beautiful cars and fast. You can get a general idea of how expensive this hobby is by looking at all the 'old' men who participate. It's not a kids hobby any more because of cost.
Nice job with the pictures. Thanks.

If you could have heard this thing too, it sounded REAL MEAN.
The owner was a nice guy as well, He gave a couple kids that looked to be between 10 and 12 an "E" ticket ride across the parking lot. You couldn't have wiped the smile off those kids faces with 80 grit sandpaper. ;)

No, We didn't have any Bentleys.
Too bad. There are some sweet looking cars in that parking structure. I found about 20 or 30 like this one in various stages of restoration (all with the steering wheel on the right -- as opposed to "correct" -- side of the car):
http://www.ldphotography.net/cdpf/luxorbentley.jpg
I also found a couple slightly newer ones, probably 50's or 60's models. Not being a car guy that's about as close as I can narrow it down. There was also one that looked like it could have rolled off the dealership lot this morning.

Since you asked, Hehe.
I was so busy that I didn't get a chance to catch this one with it's Coffin trailer hooked up. You can see a bit of the "Coffin Trailer" in the lower right of this photo, and it was done as well as the truck it was towed by. "RATS" anyone?

OOPS! I suppose I should have explained better.
This trailer was made from what looks to be a real Coffin that was heavily customised and painted to match the truck. I wish I had taken a photo of the trailer its self, but as I said, I was pretty busy. :(

On the way home today I passed most of those Bentleys, heading into California. They sure do move slow! :D I stopped off at Calico, a little commercialized ghost town in the Mojave Desert, and a couple of them were there, too. They're taking part in some kind of organized annual 3000-mile drive around the western U.S. (I talked briefly with a woman I saw in Calico who was wearing a Bentley jacket.)
