I'm curious what you put in the pot to keep her up like that. BTW, as I was scrolling down on the first photo, for a split second I thought that she was in a really big lens hood. :D

Most of the high key shots were done with a butterfly lighting using a single strobe. The first shot was a 3 strobe setup, with key camera left, fill on axis, and a background light. I would have used a 4th for kicker, but it was throwing a funky shadow onto the wood. The black background shots is really incredibly easy to do. Just take a large piece of velvet and drape it over mom while she hold the baby. Put the light incredibly close for a nice soft light and usually most of the velvet ends up completely black.
