I'm liking #1. I like how it shows the paints variations from light to dark. Also like the backdrop, fits well with the cars color i think.
There is one spot above the rear wheel that kept pulling at my attention from the flash though.


#2 - try to get rid of the flashes hot spots on the front bumper.

The strobes work well with that paint. I don't think you need all that foreground though.

Thank you both. I cropped it that size so I my friend could print it and have it framed in a standard size.

Good job on the first one. The crop works good, it gives the photo depth. The color is great and really stands out against the background.

Looks to me like you had two strobes w/ umbrellas one at either end of the car pointed in towards the middle (although I might be incorrect). You have good exposure across the photo but the car looks a just a touch dark in the middle at the door. Its really not that bad it gives really good contrast but it creates some shadows from the side mirror.

1)Try moving the strobes a little closer together to give fill light in the middle of the car.
Or
2)Dial down the strobes a bit to darken up the ends to match the middle.

Doing either should give good fill across the whole car also get rid of the simi-harsh shadow caused by the side mirror (which really isnt that bad). Again really good job.



On the second shot good lighting although the color doesn't pop as much as it did in the first one. Try bumping up the contrast a little to bring out the color.

Two suggestions for the second
1) clone out the lights in the background they are kinda distracting.
2) watch the harsh reflections caused by the lights. Try moving them back, dial them down a touch and use a longer shutter speed on a tripod.

Hmm. Never heard of it. Care to elaborate? Basically, you crop the image to the best advantage to make the subject look good, & then fill in the difference in formats with acid-free cardboard. I blew this up to 12X18" & matted it into a 16X20" frame.

Most art/hobby stores have the materials. Michaels will cut mats, & there are lots of places online to supply them.
