I am getting ready this upcoming weekend to do a printer paper test and I have a few questions if anyone has suggestions. The test will involve printing out two copies of two different photos using the same software conditions, printer and ink. I have bought several different kinds of paper for this test. This is a non-scientific test, but with some controls (I don't have the equipment to do a scientific test).
The purpose of the test is to see for myself which paper works best for me with the Canon S9000 printer using Canon inks.
- Is anyone else aware of a paper test using the Canon S9000?
- Although I plan on doing a comparison test out of the printer and then using one print for sunlight test and the other as a pseudo control, is there another kind of test I should run for comparison of quality that would require me to run a third (or more) print.
- Does someone have a test photo that they feel would be very good for testing color, bleed-over, or other factor. If so the test image file size needs to be under 10 meg because of download time to my machine. An 8x10 formatted jpeg would be prefered. If you do, let me know and I will provide e-mail address and subject line for sending it to me. Please do not send anything before I ask for it.
At this time I have the following 8x10 paper types:
Canon Photo Pro High gloss
Canon Photo Pro Matte
Kodak Photo ultima High Gloss
Kodak Photo ultima Satin
Hp Photo Gloss
Hp photo matte/satin
Epson Photo gloss
Epson Photo matte/satin
Office depot photo gloss
Office depot photo matte/satin
(note: I am not at home, so can not remember if I bought matte or satin finish on some of the paper and the correct name, but all are the high-end paper)
I will make a stop at a local Camera store to see if the have Ilford paper, but knowing the store's reluctance to support digital, it does not look likely I can get that brand of paper before this weekend's test.
At a later time I may try other brands of ink, but am nervous about using anything other then Canon ink in the printer based on brother's experience with 3rd party inks.
Any suggestions will be apprectiated. Thanks...
