Still new to this... any C&C would be much appreciated.

I would retry this shot using a slower shutter speed. This will allow the water to look smooth and feathery. Also, having the outline of the pool leveled will help. At the top of the photo, the inner line of the pool is slightly diagonal. You may also want to try a more narrow aperture. Only portions of the fountain are in focus. Were you shooting at f/1.8 or f/2.8? I would try for 5.6 or so. This will keep more of the photo in focus.
I hope that was helpful!! (^_^)

This was handheld at f3.2. I was just walking by yesterday and took some shots at the fountain. A buddy of mine was actually holding onto me while I was leaning over the top, hence a lack of stability and hesitation in going for a long shutter speed (this was 1/80). Maybe I could have gone down to 1/50 but probably not much further.
I noticed the diagonal this morning. I PP'd it kinda late last night and normally look for that but wasn't thinking about it for some reason. (Note: tried to straighten it in Flickr; may have to just wait until I can do it at home)
Thanks!

The perspective doesn't work for me on this one? I would rather have seen from the top of the tap down...( if that was an option?)

Not without difficulty I wasn't prepared to deal with at the time. The only way up would be the other side which is a fountain staircase. I was still in work clothes. The wall the leaf is attached to is a good 10-15 feet tall.
Not sure how much they would appreciate me climbing up the fountain either (although I'm sure I wouldn't be the first).

I really don't like the perspective of this one. I think maybe taking the shot from the side to actually capture the water falling from it would make it a better shot. Definately try to lower the shutter speed to give the water a more appealing effect also. Its going to be hard since its hand held but be creative.

It's hard to get oriented and know what you're looking at. Change camera angle, your position, or focal length. I would also change your aperture so that you have more DOF (depth of field). Maybe try F8 or F11. With a smaller aperture you can also lower your ISO to have a slower shutter speed so that the water stream would look better. Choose spot meter and meter off of something that reflects 18% grey to get a good exposure. Hope that helps.

I think the biggest problem on this for me is how centered it is. Try using thirds on this by scooting the leaf right and up a little and let the water fall down and left to "breath" a little.

Some of you may prefer this shot more. It could still benefit from a slower shutter, but was taken from a different angle and at f/4.0.
