I tried Neat Image and it is really cool. Look at the difference!

The 1st pic was unprocessed, right out of the camera... The second is after using Neat Image:

Comments?

great shot and cute kid. It seems like her skin has lost too much detail and she seems slightly plastic... Maybe its just me. or maybe her skin is so perfect it seems unreal.. :)

Nice! Cute kid. The second picture looks oh so sharper. What's Neat Image anyway?

On a side note, did you use your 70-210 for this? Is it the 3.5 to 4.5 USM version?

I believe it's a Photoshop Plug-In, right Fer??
Did you purchase it or use the demo version??

And I really love what it did with her 'eyes'! Look at the sparkle now!
But I do get what Smitty was saying too. The skin kinda looks 'plastic'.....but then again if it's a 'known to be manipulated' picture you can over look that. Meaning if when someone random looks at it they know that you've 'dolled' it up a bit instead of trying to make it look more natural. Make sense?

No, it's something else... There's the link. I just downloaded it today and I am goofing around.

Yes, that make sense... But I am trying to learn how to use it and don't end up with "plastic" images, KWIM? ;)

Neat Image is one of the main noise reduction programs out there (along with Noise Ninja, etc.). As with the others, it comes in a variety of flavors depending on whether you need 16 bit capability, batch processing, etc. and whether you want a stand alone application or a PS plug-in. Both Neat Image and Noise Ninja work very well.

Thanks for the explanation :D

I used noiseware on the pics from diving. I found I needed to be very careful or all the divers had that plastic look. It sure is cool software.

Fer, did you just download the trial version? Do you have to purchase the full program? Was it easy to use? Am I asking too many questions????? LOL.

I really hate Photo Shop...it is such a pain in the patooty to use even though the results are good.

Thanks:D :D :D

There is a free version that's stand alone. The plug in only works if you buy the pro version.

That's an amzing improvement on that image. My daughter is 3 too, what a fun age!

I'm just curious if anyone has compared Neat Image and the noize reduction in the new PS CS2? I thought I read somewhere it's going to have one built in now.

Will have to give it a go - I have always used Neatimage on night and landscapes never thought of using it on portraits
