EOS 20 D Maxtor one touch II 200GB

Just bought the maxtor one touch II 200 GB external hard drive. is there an easy way to download pictures directly to this external drive, versus downloading to the PC, then copy from the PC to the external drive?

You might be able to buy a device to do it (eg a laptop), but that's not what it's meant for. It operates on mains power and is quite large, it's not designed for portable use. There are plenty of things designed for just this job, you'd be better off getting one of them.

The answer is no.

You can download direct to the drive via your computer; you don't have to copy to computer and then to the drive! An external HD will mount same as an internal drive and you just save your pictures direct to it.

There is a product,. that I beleive delkin made/makes?

It is called a USB bridge,. that was supposed to allow just this sort of thing.. but since it was announced I have never seen it for sale.

I think the best way is what condky sugested, if you your external hard drive attached to your pc and set as the defalt drive then just down load. from your camera. As it has a usb socket you might be able to down load directly from either the camera or card reader but I doubt it as you normaly have give the pc the instruction to down load. I have a Maxtor one touch II 250 and I just down load to the PC then what I want to the drive once I have looked through the photographs and bined the ones I don't want.
