Hi all!
This is my first kids post. Just one of my little stars, taken on a trip to the park yesterday...

Those eyes are freaking me out! Too much PP for me.

PP is of course a personal preference, everyone has their differences when it comes to it. I kinda like the pp you have used here. Im normally not all that fond of the HDR'ish look on kids photos, because i feel like it makes kids seem much older than they are or sometimes even gives them a bullyish look. However, for some reason, i think the PP goes with his expression. He has gorgeous eyes.

I like the effect that the PP has given it. I think it works for this shot!

he's a total doll! I also like the pp on this one I think it works, although most of the time I do not like this effect for people.

Thank for all your comments. Yes, I am not especially keen on HDR for portraits either, but actually it's not HDR! Does look like it though. As for the eyes, they pretty much just turned out that way when I popped the image overall.
I couldn't make my mind up about going with either version 2 or the final one, below, but have decided to get this final v3 (above) printed off.

Number two is my favorite, but as said above...... to each their own. Nice grab.

for what its worth, I would go #2 as well. Sometimes focusing processing on the eyes is actually going to take away from them if you go to far. Kinda how I feel with #3

I actually really like the shot. The pp on the eyes doesn't bother me so much, it just looks a little overboard on the rest of the shot. Cute kiddo!

Yes, #2 I feel works the best as well. #3 has more contrast, color saturation and detail but I don't like it for kids. With your photo, the kids expression goes from a soft look in #2 to a worried, kind of mad expression because of the added detail in the forehead and around the eyes.
Works better for funky/cool photo shoots with adult subjects better IMHO.

Thanks everyone! Yes, I do see what you're saying... maybe I'll rework this one, maybe blend a bit of number 3 over number 2, or just print them both off... think I need to get rid of a bruise on his cheek in number 2 though!

Another vote for #2. While we are just expressing our opinion, it shouldn't override what you like. From your posts, it appears that you like #3 (ie the first post) the best. If you like it, then don't let us sway your opinion. Print up what you like, and not what the forum likes.
Also, is your monitor calibrated? One thing that I find when I'm looking at photos that are super-saturated, is that the OP doesn't have a calibrated monitor. As a result, the images don't look as extreme on their monitor as they might would on a calibrated monitor.
