This is probably a noob question but....
Can I upgrade my 2.0 that was included with my 20d to the 3.0 version for free?
Or do I just need to buy it?
Thanks

You need to pay for the upgrade. There's a thread around that will tell you about how to upgrade to Photoshop CS2 for $300.

You have to buy it. If you have registered it you can get a good deal on the full PS CS2 for $299. here.

It is a good value, and is better than a student or education version, more features.

Last I checked Costco was selling Elements 3.0 for about $80. And I understand it is a major improvement over 2.0 which was pretty good.

Even if they are still offering the upgrade rebate price from v2 to v3, it is not valid for OEM owners of Photoshop Elements which is the type you get when it comes with a product. You would have to buy the retail version in order to be qualified for the rebate. So go buy the full version of v3 for $80 at Walmart.

Don't we all wish! Unfortunately you'll need to buy it! Best Buy has it on sale this week for 79.99, of course it'll be cheaper online. Good luck!

I don't believe the upgrade is available any more - it isn't up on Adobe's site. Shop around though and you can get PSE3 for a decent price. It's a very good product - head and shoulders above PSE2.
If you decide that you really want the added capabilities of PSCS2, you've got until November to take advantage of the $299 upgrade.

If you have elements 2.0, I think you can still get a $20 rebate towards 3.0. All you need from the previous version is the name (i.e. Elements 2.0) and the serial number (or copy of the CD). It doesn't say anything about OEM versus full package. It expires April 30th.

OK, I just realized what date it is :o
They may have another rebate. These things seem to be perpetual.

When PSE 3 came out in stores, the rebate on the cover specifically said it had to be an upgrade from a full retail version, OEM did not count.
