Hey, I've been only shooting for six months so maybe the solution is simple. I have taken pictures that turned out with either the "land" part of the picture (e.g trees) are really dark and the sky is in color or the "trees" are in color but the sky is just a white blob. Any idea how to fix it so that the sky is in full color, blue, while the trees are also in complete color? I hope I didn't confuse y'all.

In many cases the camera cannot capture the dynamic range you are seeing. There are various ways around this. One of the more common (at least from us film converts) is to use a graduated neutral density filter. It is dark on 1/2, clear on the other. By covering the brighter sky you darken that portion of the image, bringing it closer to the foreground exposure. Another digital option is to take multiple exposures, metered for the sky and then the foreground. Combine the exposures in post processing. Another method is HDR.
I'm sure others will have more ideas.

That's the 3 ideas I was thinking of. :)
