I'm looking for a bracket that would allow mounting a speedlite (580ex or similar) horizontally. Here's the Pocket Wizard product (http://www.pocketwizard.com/news_events/news/ac7/)I got the idea from.

It would help to mount the flash horizontally so I can fill a Q39XS softbox better when the soft box is mounted in a "portrait" orientation. Does that make sense?

Will an umbrella bracket like this (http://www.flashzebra.com/products/0200/index.shtml) work? You can adjust it easily.

I have a similar Impact bracket. I could probably turn that at a 90 degree angle for my purpose. The problem is that the combination will not be well balanced and put a lot of stress on the hot-foot.

The 580 EX comes with a threaded mounted point on the side of the flash (M6x0.75 thread) You might be able to adapt something to work with that. Not sure how strong it would be.

I saw that but couldn't figure out what it was for...until I, uh, read the manual. :-)
It's a hole for mounting the SB-E2 flash bracket.
Well, I'll be dog gone.

That might just work. I'll have to try it when I get home. Thanks.

Yep, it's either the manual or POTN, and POTN is a lot more fun!

You can mount the spigot sidways in the extra hole thing on that bracket...
