Google Adwords - I don't get it

When going into Adwords, I see the message "below first page bid" on a few of the keywords, but when I do a test search using that keyword phrase, the ad is right there on page one. I don't get it.

I had a run in with Adwords a few years back. I'd found a phrase that no one else was using, so I ran with it. Cheap as chips until Adwords also worked this out and started to tell me in very well worded terms that I wasn't giving them enough money.

It went back and forth abit until it just wasn't worth the hassle - perhaps you have the same situation, you have a phrase that is worth more than you are paying and they are aware of this.

Nothing wrong with what they are doing - they sound like a Tog convention - "I should be paid more than this .... " :-)

Yep, sounds like google. You pay to create an account, they supply you with all kinds of free tools to create effective, good search phrases, but when you find a really good one they tell you it's too good.
