My first pop at baby photography

On the first image it seem that the focus is on his right eye, and his left eye is a bit oof. I like the 2nd image, but feel like it might have a little bit off too much dead space. Great starting point though.

Okay, I have lots of pics of my kids like that. One eye is in focus, tack sharp and the other isn't~how do I fix this problem?

Thanks guys yeah I noticed that the left eye was out of focus. Any tips on how to avoid this would be helpful. I was shooting at f1.2 so I'm sure it was due to such a shallow DOF, trust 2.8 would be a better option?

i would say its definately due to your DOF.
