I've got a few small jobs to quote shortly, and I was wondering what the rate formula is for catalog shots. Is there a general or standardized per shot fee that can be used, i.e. $150.00 per shot?

Thanks,

Jon

For a single items on a plain background $50-75 (also known as "Drop and Pops"). For multiple items which have to be arranged double or triple that, depending on how many. For shots requiring backgrounds with props, special background materials or constructed sets $300 to $1500.

I don't pull the camera out of the bag for less than $350.00. I usually get $3500.00 starting fees for weddings that last 6-7 hours....I include a proof book and a web site with 100 or so images in this fee. The album is not included.....This of course is for local weddings...no more than 50 miles from the studio...travel usually starts at double the fee.......I book alot of weddings and found that when I had lower prices...I did less bookings...next year I have 6 booked already at $4500.00......good luck...don

Then I added my material costs (in this case, the cost of a 10D, a lens, batteries and CF cards, plus several RubberMaid mixing bowls).

I can understand the 10D and accessories... but the mixing bowls ???? I suppose that there is something I'm missing here... :)

The shooting dome is a RubberMaid mixing bowl.

PhotosGuy has a sticky about lighting that has a whole bunch of great lighting ideas. Check it out!
