Personally, I think that, although still very sad, the real Michael Jackson died a long time ago. That said, he was a very talented man, who just went a bit off his rocker towards the end.

I saw Michael and his brothers in concert at Disneyland when he was like, 11 or 12. They were really great.
I feel badly that the press was out to make him into a pervert when I think all he really loved in the world and related to were children.
RIP.

Yep. It's sad when anyone dies, but this is going to monopolize the news for the next week. In that time how many more US servicemen are going to die in Iraq and Afganistan and go unnoticed?

North Korea don't scare me. Gas prices do.
Water prices are what scare me, more! It's more expensive than gas to the liter (but I'll end the off topic chatter now).
I loved MJ's old stuff and particularly the song "They don't really care about us"
Despite the negative media attention, I really truly respected him and learned a lot from his songs. Did you know how much cash he donated to charity a year? It's something like 10-20 million$! Every year !
So while he (might) have made a mistake with the convictions...considering how much he's done for the world, charities and everyone that has been touched by him.. I'm sure he'll live on, despite being physically dead.
His death allowed me to reflect upon myself as an artist; will people remember me by my art? It deepens my requirement to depict or illustrate more of myself into my photographs ..so that when I pass on, my work immortalizes me.
I think MJ will do that for years to come, yet.

Farrah's story is a lot sadder than MJ (not that his isn't). Farrah's struggle has been pretty public, and they way she opened up to the public about what she was dealing with was pretty courageous.
While MJ's death was sudden, and Farrah's was expected, it's interesting to watch Michael steal the spotlight over Farrah. I suppose I understand why, but still...

I know Im a youngin in comparison to most of the people who remember him but he was a living legend in my home growing up. The first thing that ever scared the total crap out of me was Thriller. I was about my daughters age now, 2 1/2 and I vividly remember watching it on MTV. Well today, I sat with my daughter and she watched it for the very first time. Scared her but not nearly as bad as me at her age lol. Im sad that she wont grow up with the same memories of him as me. (minus the molestation accusations) Which of course I never believed even once.
I think his mind was like that of a brilliant child and he truly never grew up. His pure fascination with Never land and peter pan tells you he never grew up. Im very sad at the loss of such a huge foundation of music in my life. Im sad at the loss his children have suffered. Music has lost a great icon

One thing missing from his life was an innocent childhood. He was thrown into the spotlight from age 5 (I heard).
Apparently he was always looking for the childhood years he never had. Also, it is no coincidence that he liked the company of other stars (e.g. Brooke Shields, Elizabeth Taylor) who did not have the childhood most of us had.
The songs Thriller, Beat It and Billy Jean still take me back to a carefree, stress-free life that I wish I could have again.

Ahh stage 3 ANGER & BARGAINING...
On MJ: He did have a very, very good voice and was quite talented in his own way. I didn't like his music that much, but whatever.
He was a weirdo... is that bad? Not really (look at me). His private life was... questionable... but who knows what really went on, he was tabloid fodder (and tabloids would never make stuff up would they  ). If he DID do bad things to kids... that's a different story.
The moonwalk was pretty cool.
On Farrah... I guess I am a little young to know much about her. I do know THIS (http://graneyandthepig.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/farrahfawcettposter.jpg) photo... which makes her passing more sad for me.
Overall... I think I'd rather be friends with Farrah.

Its ashame he never really could live a normal life. Look in comparison these 5 minute celebrities who can't stand the fame for that time, break down and go into rehab etc. Imagine that being around you since you were 5.

I didn't follow his pedo controversy because it doesn't affect me at all, but I kinda felt bad for the guy. In this world, any man that is accused of sexual wrongdoing tends to be guilty in the public eye by accusation, no matter what the truth is. If you can't afford good lawyers, there's a fair chance of being convicted too. People are too willing to believe the worst.
I love kids and I'm good with them, but unfortunately, as a single man, that means that I can't babysit my friends kids. I'm not going to open myself up to life-ruining accusations or misapprehentions. If I babysit and the kid starts playing with herself afterwards, guess what... people start suspecting the worst.
It's a shame. My friends have lost my willingness to babysit, and I miss out on time I could be a good influence on a child.

Good on you, bjordan. In today's world, this is the most sensible stance a man can take. Yes, society will soon deteriorate, but so what? Men are regarded as wage slaves or worthless potential criminals, and that's the decision both society and the legal system have deliberately chosen.
When good intentions are repaid with malice, indulge no more and step aside. It does not behoove men to salvage the mess, when all they will achieve is unduly destroy their own lives.
An example of mindless malice:
Anyway...just one less pedo in the world.
This is precisely the sort of mentality that encourages the above school of thought. It is also incredibly ignorant and -- if one has an ounce of intelligence -- needs to be immediately rectified. Study the situation dispassionately, with no emotions colouring judgement, and the farce becomes obvious. The whole thing was contrived beyond belief, designed to sell a false story and boost the interviewer's status. Who cares about collateral damage?
Michael was truly unique. Not only did his songs hold universal appeal, but he did have a heart of gold, always giving so much, and enriching many lives. Based on all the available evidence, it is clearly obvious he related to kids at their level. Clearly, this excludes the sexual side. How many kids have sex? That's right.
It's my opinion that the Bashir documentary drove him into a protracted death. Put yourself in his shoes: if you were accused of molesting kids on international TV, would you be able to brush it off? It was too much, too incomprehensible for Michael to deal with.
The world has repaid Michael with jeers and a lack of understanding. This incident has destroyed much of my faith in humanity. Hopefully, the veil will lift from our eyes and we will re-consider the situation in a more fair light.
When was the last time the world [and that includes the Middle East and Africa] was united in mourning for one person? Therein lies his magic.
Goodbye, Michael :(
