Belmondo and Belmondess took a drive to the ocean today and had lunch in a delightful restaurant right on the coast in a town called Carlsbad. We were just sitting there enjoying the glow from a great bottle of Chardonay (Chateau St. Jean, Alexander Valley), and we decided to take each other's picture. I believe this is the first photo my bride has taken of me in the last 43 years----perhaps ever.

Nice photos. You look like a couple with whom I'd thoroughly enjoy sharing a bottle of wine.
Now then, how was it that you were able to land a jewel like Belmondess? 8-)

Thanks. It's not so remarkable that I was able to land her. It is completely miraculous that she's agreed to stay with me all this time.

We get to the Bay Area frequently, so we very well could end up sharing a bottle of wine sometime.

Should the chance come to pass, I would consider it a treat.
If you haven't had the opportunity, visit the Dry Creek area of Sonoma county. Between the good wine and the scenic photograph opportunities, your trip will be memorable.
Cheers

Hoo boy, now you have gone and done it. First the S-70 then she will be toying with the 20D. Pretty soon she will be pineing for a 1DsMKII casue you know that those cropped sensors just are not right. She will not want to use your lenses so that means that the UPS guy will be delivering lots of stuff from B&H. And you thought that there was a lot of stuff in he truck now went you travel....just wait.:):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

Lovely family shot.

PS. Love the shirt.:)

You are a very cute couple.....maybe you could get her hooked onto photography! Are you willing to share all those fancy lenses of yours????

Wow!

Some of the best shots you have posted so far, Tom (ok, apart from the ones with trains in them)

As a born photographer, you instinctively picked the seat that would give you better lighting for a picture of your lovely wife.
Still, hers isn't half bad, either.

Best regards,
Andy

Thanks, Andy, but you give me waaaay too much credit. All we wanted was a table by the window so we could see the ocean. It really is a beautiful place, and the weather was ideal.

Ian: As I said in an earlier thread, if Louis Vuitton ever starts making photo equipment, my wife and I might actually be able to share a hobby. Until then, that's probably the last photo my wife will ever take of me. (Good thing, too, 'cause I ain't that pretty.)

Everyone else, thanks for the comments. Your tact and careful choice of comments is greatly appreciated.

Come by the diner! We are just north of SF. You and Mrs. B are welcome anytime. We dont serve wine, but we have no corkage and all our regulars bring theirs in. Did I mention the POTN Member Discount!!

Oh, God, another advert for Sideways!

Funny you should mention that. I have a friend who owns a vineyard in Paso Robles, in roughly the same area where this movie supposedly took place. Apparently it has done a lot for tourism and general interest in local wines.

Great movie. I own a copy.

Well, I live in the middle of all the places in the movie and work with Casa Cassara Vineyard and Winery in photographic life, a tiny little Pinot Noir grower that overlooks Sanford in the Santa Rita Hills. This is the header I shot and made for them: http://casacassarawinery.com/images/CCHeader8393-800S.gif
