+1 for smugmug!
you have to pay $40/year for the basic account... but their service & quality are top notch!!

Free places are okay, but Zenfolio is awesome. Check out my beginner site at: http://busanna.zenfolio.com . Use this code to get $5 off: QU2-76N-N58 . You won't regret it, promise.

Zen is adding the bigger photos feature very soon. Email them and ask them exactly when and that it depends on your using them or not. I want a date!

The larger you make them, the more chance that somebody can steal your pictures. ;)

no need to yell fella... free wasnt in your opener...
way i see it - $40 per year is a small price to pay for an awesome site displayed exactly as you asked... with fullscreen slideshow too, auto resize to viewers web browser and screen resolution so they are always showing in MAX size that fits screen.
how much is your camera worth? 10 years subscription buys 1 crappy lens. Different strokes for different folks i guess...
its $35 if you type this into the coupon field... : 0gf9ks6JBZzBj
maybe picasa webalbums or facebook offer something for free... :)

It's allll about presentation. Let me say it again, presentation, presentation, presentation! The presentation at the free sites is subpar. Those sites are for people taking photos with a point and shoot. When you pay so much for a DSLR, you might as well pay $40/month to display them gorgeously, and not to mention the unlimited space. I tried both Zen and Smug and I went with Zen. Zen's web design foundation is much better. Foundation is a big deal because they are stuck with it forever. Use this code to get $5 off: QU2-76N-N58b .

Zenfolio vote for me. I just like their layout and interactions better than others.
40 bucks a year isn't bad at all.

Yeah but I just need to host a few pics for people to grab from - I'm not a professional looking to show off my work.
Pbase.com looks pretty good and is much cheaper than zenfolio.

Hi Rambusanna
Would you say there would be a noticeable difference on our screen between two exact same images hosted on Zen and Photobucket? And can you post them up on forums also like photobucket on Zen?
Thanks

Do you get unlimited space to upload "high rez" pictures on Photobucket? I ran out of space on photobucket after a few albums. There is definitely a difference between the way images are presented on Zenfolio and on Photobucket. The unlimited space itself is worth the $40 a year. I paid less than that after coupons. Let me know when Photobucket starts offering unlimited space for free. I'll switch. However, I know that won't happen. Good day.

Hi
I am just asking in general.
If you post up 2 identical pictures on both hosting sites on a forum like here, would you see a noticeable improvement with Zen?
I also had a look on Zen, the watermark feature is only valid for the $100 sign up.
Thanks

I created my own watermark in photoshop and imported it to Aperture. Every time I export pictures to Zen, I can choose to place the watermark image on all the pictures. Let me ask YOU a question. Would a great picture look the same when displayed in a plain white generic frame as opposed to in a customized vibrant colored one that suits it perfectly? Again, Photobucket and Zen are not equal for many reasons, and especially not because Zen offers unlimited space for $40. Now, Smugmug vs. Zen would be a reasonable argument because they both have their ups and downs. Photobucket cannot be compared to Zen. Sorry.
Thanks

Hi
Please can you answer my question but if you dont know please also tell me. I am not having a go/dig at Zen, I'm just asking.
If you posted 2 identical pictures, ignore the frames as I am talking about the actual picture here in standard form with no editing.
Uploaded both as normal, through photobucket and Zen, then posted it on a forum, would you see any difference? Would the Zen look sharper/better?
I ask this because I would like to know if its worth the move. If the pictures are not going to look any different then it would be a bit of a waste as I have 1000's of images which would take me weeks and weeks to sort out for no gain.
The $40 I am not fussed about.

Hi Freebird
Thanks for the tip, I have just signed up for the 14 day trial. I tried smugmug too but I couldnt do it as they ask for payment and I just wanted to try before I buy.
I have uploaded the same picture on both photobucket and Zen, no modifications on either site, just straight upload and post on here.
The 1st thing I have noticed is the photobucket is much easier in terms of getting the link, as I have to manually add in the codes to the link with Zen. This would be quite a tedious task if you are posting 20 odd pictures in one hit.
Zen has a few standard links though with different size options which is handy, Photobucket doesn't, I have to actually resize it to do this here.
Here is the Photobucket image:

Here is the Zen image:
http://Gunit.zenfolio.com/img/v4/p262759372-4.jpg
Can you see any differences?
Is it me or does the Zen look slightly crisper?
Thanks

I'm so happy you did this.
Zen is definitely sharper.
Place both of them in tabs and flick back and forth.

If you keep your eye on the rear tail light, it's the most noticeable. But, it's sharper throughout the entire photo. Look at the BG objects too.

Yeah I noticed the handle on the car and the background stuff pop more on the zenfolio one, but it's not tooooooo much different. Although if it was a really detail oriented photo then it might make a larger difference.
But I use Zenfolio as well, and I really like how it works and looks. The auto multiple sizes is pretty nifty. I've never used any of those other sites like photobucket, flickr etc though.
