Windows 7 presales are available at amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/b/?node=1286119011&tag=hrwin7-20) now. Prices are about 50% off what you'll pay once it's released in the stores. Home premium upgrade is about $50, pro upgrade is about $100, Ultimate Upgrade $219.
The above link is an affiliate link, but 100% of the Windows 7 affiliate revenue will be donated to POTN. Support the forum if you were going to buy it anyway.
Pekka has been PM'd about this (after thread was posted).

I have not tried it myself but migth consider. The danish postal services recommend http://www.borderlinx.com/ to buy from USA from companies that only ship to USA addresses.

Man, if I waited a few weeks, I could have bought 7 for $9.99...
Anywho, for the person that doesn't know/care much for OS, would installing 7 mean reformatting my computer and losing everything. And secondly, how much of a performance increase is 7. Thanks.

If buying an upgrade to Vista or XP you shouldn't have to reformat. If upgrading from the RC Beta version of Win 7 you will need to reformat.

It depends on where in the world you are from. In EU Windows 7 is delivered without IE and that means it will not be possible to upgrade from Vista or XP.

With Vista you can do an inplace upgrade, leaving all of your programs and settings intact.
With XP you need to do a clean install, which doesn't mean you need to format, you will just have an XP install as well as a Win7 install.

Two sales so far, but they only come through to me once it's released, so that's when POTN will get the proceeds from the sales. Keep it coming!

Did my part today... canceled my previous order for Home premium, and placed a new order for 1 Pro & 1 Home Premium through the affiliate link.

how can you download firefox or chrome, or your favorite browser then? gee, thanks EU for a wonderful "solution"... when does apple have to start getting rid of safari or ubuntu getting rid of firefox ?
performance wise, from most tests it's "xp fast with vista style". Multi-core support was enhanced from vista, and memory management and cache were also improved upon. Basically 7 is what vista should have been, hence why pentium 2 computers have been able to run 7 (though takes forever to run it)

Just a note that i'll make the donation to POTN once Windows 7 ships, that's when the affiliate revenue gets to me. One of my other threads recommends books, POTN gets that revenue too, though I haven't added it up recently it gets done as I remember.
