S3 IS to SX10 IS?

I'm contemplating upgrading from the S3 IS to the SX10 IS.

Is the SX10 a better camera than the S3?

It is the upgrade of the S5, which is an upgrade of the S3.

It's got more reach (both wider and longer reach) and an improved processor. It's also got a hot shoe, which IIRC the S3 doesn't. If you're pushing the limits of the S3 in either of those areas, then yes, it would be an upgrade. But if you could swing it, I might be inclined to go for the SX1, which has RAW capability, a slightly better sensor (CMOS rather than CCD) and is a bit more capable in burst mode.
