I know this is on the board in other places, but was just wondering if there was any more up-to-date news on the fix or our patience with Canon on the 70-200 mm IS Err 01 issue? I'm getting ready to send off my $1600 lens after having it one month. Any bets on how I'll be treated or if it'll be any better when it comes back?

Cheers!

Is this the error notice that locks the camera, and is cured by removing and reattaching the lens? If so, I had this problem repeatedly with my 70-200 2.8 ISL/1DMkII when I was shooting 8fps of water skiers in January in Acapulco after a burst of about 40 shots. I sent both to Canon in Irvine. The camera came back in about a week, with no problem in the camera. They identified the problem as being in the lens and kept it for about three weeks before returning it. It not seems to be fine, but I have not had an occasion to use it as extensively (or perhaps excessively) as I did in Acapulco, when I shot nearly 6,000 images in one week.
