I'm new on this forum and you guys might have already talked about this thread. I have a movie (1 Gb) made with my Canon digital camera and now I want only a small portion of this movie to keep. I would like to cut the part I'm interested in and have a new file with this part only. I have ZoomBrowserEx, but the program gives me a message saying that it can't cut.
What other program is out there that I can use for my situation ?
Thank you very much !

Oreos - You can "edit" videos in the camera with the SX10 IS. See Page 169 of the Manual. You can edit videos longer than 1-second. It gives you several options - save the original video, but also a "selection" of it, with Start and End points chosen, and that part saved as a separate file.
If using Windows-XP, you can use free Avidemux to Cut and Append (join) parts of your video, or of different videos. It can also change formats, do basic fades in-out, and has some filters for sharpening, de-noising, enhancing colour, so on.
It is quite basic, but doesn't cost anything to try. If you were going to do a lot of that, and needed better functions, you might look at Reviews of Adobe's Premiere Elements - some reviews here:

The higher versions of Premiere cost rather more, but that can be worthwhile if those levels of quality are needed.
Of course, other Makers such as Ulead also have programs at several User and Price levels.
But if you just need to extract "selections" for Emailing, etc, the camera's own functions can do that.

I have solved the mystery on how to cut movies with Zoombrowser EX. When you shoot movies with Canon, the camera records two files for each clip, one with extention .MOV and another with same name but extention .THM. You need to have both files next to each other when previewing your movie clips in Zoombrowser EX. Otherwise you cannot preview them and hence cannot cut them.
