Wow, I didn't realise how little I knew about photography until today. He's pretty much agreed to make me his full time assistant which is just amazing. Low pay, obviously, but the experience is priceless.

Just based off today I feel like I have to take everything I know about photography and just disregard it.

I won't give his name, but pretty much everyone will have heard of him, it's the gig of a lifetime.

20 lights to shoot a single model, with an attention to detail I could've never imagined. He spent about 2 hours setting the lights up, just adjusting angles, occasionally popping the flash against the colourama, but it wasn't until the model stood in front of the camera that *bang*, everything just made sense. It was only a test shot, and it was better than any image I've ever taken in my entire life.

Just an amazing experience.

I would give anything to one day have an experience like that. Sounds like bliss.

+1

The closest I've come to that was a Hollywood film crew that rented out the studio I work at for a commercial shoot. It was a 30 second commercial but man... the attention to detail by everyone involved. 8 hours of work for a 30 second commercial...

EDIT: They only did 4 takes too! And that was because they had to get 2 different angles.

I had a dream, last night, I talked to Marc Adamus on the phone.

I share the envy of meeting big-names like that, let alone having an opportunity to work with them.

The funny thing is, once in a while people say that about me

arggh, I did exactly the same yesterday, but this time it was the actual shoot. Loved it!!!!

Fashion photography is what I want to do now. It didn't feel like work for a second. It was hard graft, don't get me wrong, but it just all seemed like fun. Watching the photographer work the light in the room and seeing how he made tiny adjustments that completely changed the look of each image was just amazing.

I've produced some images that have wowed a few people, I'm pretty proud of them. More there-at-the-right-time than anything though. But this guy would have an idea, make the lighting adjustments, ask for the pose, and then nail it in just a few shots, it was amazing. I realise what true mastery of light and camera is now, I'm going to dedicate my time to this exact thing.

Highlight of the day was sitting behind him as he took pictures, and humbly suggesting that maybe the model should look in the other direction while she was standing, and the other model should bend down in a passive pose, then him instructing them to, taking the shot, and turning to me with a big grin and shouting "brilliant!".

haha, yeah it was awesome!!!
