Can you advise me please...

I have a 1d with a speedlite 580ex.

The thing is I've been asked to photograph some jewellery which I've not specifically done before.

So... the question is will my speedlite be good enough for the job or should I be looking at a ring flash and if so which one? Or should I be considering some other lighting entirely to enhance the effects?

Also if any one has examples of jewellery photo skills that they would share, I'd be obliged...

Thanks in advance

I take it from the lack of replies that this is either the wrong place to post or no one has the answer!

Perhaps a moderator could advise on a better place to post pse?

Probably would have been better in the lighting section. I'm sure a passing mod will move it... ;)

Have a look at these two topics

Personally I think your speedlite would be enough, plus maybe a 283...

Thank you for that excellent and useful reply...

I shall study all the links at length and no doubt learn much...
