I just bought an 11-16mm Tokina and I'm trying to figure out which filter size I can use with if to shoot landscapes without vignetting. On the Formatt website (I'm pretty sure these are the guys that make HiTech?) they offer filters in either 85mm or 100mm. I was looking at the 85mm ND grad kit to start off with but I have no idea if this will work with my new lense? Also, can I use the holders that they have listed on their site? They've got a plastic 3 slot holder for 5.96 and a plastic front screw 77mm adapter ring for 4.68. I don't want to spend a ton of money on filters until I figure out if I'm going to like them and use them. As long as they work ok for a little while for me to play around with and do some 'test shots' I'm ok with that. Please help so I don't spend money on camera stuff that isn't going to work! :???:

You want 100mm. The general consensus is that the "Lee foundation kit" + plus adapter ring is the best holder solution available.

Thanks! Ok.. now the next problem is that this appears to be out of stock at both BH & Adorama. :( Since I'm shipping a package to Canada I don't want to pay shipping fees twice. I was going to get a 55-250 at the same time and was hoping to have it for next weekend. UPS fees are around $40 so I wanted to make the best of it, adding $40 just to ship the Lee foundation doesn't make sense. Does anyone know if Adorama charges shipping separately on items that are backordered? In other words, if I order it now through them, will I get billed shipping for my 55-250 and then the Lee kit when it comes in? Or is there another store I could check? It would be much better to buy this from the US, the kit is a special order from Henrys at around $130 here.. :(

Ok.. looks like they have it in stock at teamworkphoto.com and filters are much more reasonable. Do I need the 'wide angle' adapter ring or a regular one..?

Yep, you want the wide angle adaptor ring. It is more expensive, but it's worth it. You may also want to try www.2filter.com
If you call them (vs. making an online order), they will tell you if it's in stock and if they can ship it in time. They're good folks and lot of POTN members have done business with them (myself included).

2filter may have the holder in stock, but they're running low on stock for Lee filters. They may have the one(s) you're looking for, but I've been waiting a while now on a couple.

Thanks for all the help guys. I sent a couple emails out to teamphoto and 2filter to find out about shipping etc. I heard back from teamphoto - standard shipping to Canada is 15lbs while 'insured' shipping was 54 - ouch! If I don't go insured and they get lost/broken they're not responsible.. hmm.. I think I'll pass. I haven't heard back from 2filter yet but I'll have to wait until Friday to give them a call while I'm not at work. Hopefully the news is better from that end.

I'm quite happy with my 85mm, Cokin P sized, Hitech's. Yes the 100mm's in a Lee holder might be "nicer" but they work just fine for me.
Also, I had no problems ordering from Teamwork, I got a set of 3 soft ND grads shipped(uninsured) for less than the price of 2 from 2filter without shipping. It's too bad too. I live in New Hampshire, the state 2filters is located, but for me money is money. A set of 3 for $60, shipping included, beats $80 for 2 shipping not included:(

Unfortunately, I never got a reply to the email I sent to 2filter. I tried to call them on Thursday but missed them by about a half hour according to their site. So, I ended up ordering a set (.3,.6,.9) of graduated ND's in soft from Formatt and put my name on the backorder list for the foundation kit at B&H. Now my only problem is finding a wideangle adapter. Apparently B&H has no information on it so they can't add me to a list or sell it. I debated using an 82mm wideangle with a step down ring but thought that would probably defeat the purpose of having the wideangle adapter..? Or should I just add the 77mm regular adapter? I can probably add this to my order if I can determine what I need, the estimated timeframe on the foundation kit is 2-4weeks to B&H anyways.

B&H has the wide angle adapter unless they're sold out?
I just checked, it is back-ordered as well.

They may have been what you're saying, but it looked like maybe you hadn't found it on the site.

B&H has it on their site, but you can't order it. When you order the foundation kit there is a lead time of 2-4 weeks. However with the wideangle adapter they have no information at all - meaning they don't know when (or if) they'll get them so they can't order them for you. I was suprised at that and so was the sales guy I was talking to on the phone.

okay.. I think you can have them notify you though.. which you probably should. I'm not sure about using the normal adapter.. but I have a feeling you should not go that route due to vignetting.
