Can anyone ID this bird for me.

It's about starling size, maybe slightly smaller.
The shot was taken on the west coast of Scotland, so maybe some UK birder might be able to help.

Thanks in advance.

Looks like some kind of Nuthatch. Perhaps a variety that is not present here in the States. All my referrences are for my area.

That's a Wheatear Cameron. I would bet my house on it.

Nice pic too. One of the better ones I have seen. Birding magazines might be interested.

Thanks Damian.
A quick Google to confirm and of course you're absolutely correct.

Your house is safe. :)

I don't have a birding badge, sorry.
I will, however, give you a gold star. :)

Thanks for the help and the kind words.

Shamefully I had never heard of a wheatear before, now I know.

This bird actually followed me along the shore for quite a while.
It's a sad fact that when a man becomes middle aged this is the only type of bird that will follow him, and a cock bird at that. :(

Anyway, here's another shot.
I think he's a very handsome.
Does that make me gay ? :?

Cameron I think it makes you a twitcher! :)

What is middle-aged? I hope to live to 105 so I've a way to go yet! :D

Hi Cameron - better late than never on this one!

They're lovely shots. We have wheatears all over the place up here, they're one of the first migrants to arrive each spring. They are the first sign of spring for me :D

I don't think he's gay, I believe he is looking on you as a father figure :)
Regards
Trevor
