Hi all,
Any help with this would be much appreciated. We have a IXUS 75. Whenever I try to take a photo with the flash off the photos come out blurry. The 'camera shake' icon comes on even though it does not move and no matter what the photo comes out blurry. Is there something in the settings that I have set up incorrectly. It really limits the types of photos I am trying to take of our new bub
Cheers

Are you taking the pictures in low light situations?

both. It doesn't seem to matter. Whether it be light or darker, the pics still come out blurry?!

I believe the "shake" icon may be the camera shaking (aka your hands). Try placing the camera on a tripod and see if the pictures come out blurry then.

is your auto focus on?

Could you post some examples? And could you include the EXIF data? You'll get camera shake at anywhere from 1/125 sec (at longer zoom lengths) on down, especially if you compose on the LCD display with the camera held out at arms' length. This wouldn't be visible on the review image, but would show up in prints and enlargements. It's what the "Camera Shake" icon is designed to warn you about, and that warning kicks in based on the shutter speed, not actual shaking, IIRC. Like burningcrown said, try shooting in the same conditions on a tripod too.
You won't generally see camera shake in pictures taken with flash because the exposure then is from the flash, not from available light while the shutter's open and the flash is generally on for less than 1/500 sec.

Hi again,
THanks for all the help and feedback. I have tried all recommendations and it still takes blurry, terrible photos. I have even sped it up from a 200 to 800 what-ever-it-is (ISO I think??) I am trying to take some pics of our new daughter, and when we have to use the flash it makes the photos too bright and sucks the life out of it. DOes anyone else have this camera and same problem?/

Post some examples. Otherwise we're just guessing at what you think constitutes the problem.

I have a similar problem with an IXUS 70.
About half the photos are blurry, and I've set everything to auto and it still happens, even if I set the timer and put the camera on a bench. I have an older IXUS 30 which I did a comparison with by taking photos around the house side by side and the 30 took every photo clearly while the 70 blurred most of them.
I played with various settings but nothing seems to fix this fault.
Any ideas?

Post a sample. May want to start a new thread.
The problem with the guy who started this thread was just shutter speed, almost quaranteed. You might start there. Also what are you focusing on?

Through sheer luck, a guy at work brought the exact same model today.
I set both cameras with the same settings and took photos and it turns out my camera must just be a dud, as his worked fine every time and mine still suffers from blurriness.
