I'm thinking of getting some of those fancy plug-ins that I've seen advertised. What are your opinions of some of them. I'm not looking for any "off the wall" things; just mostly photo enhancers and adjuster plug-ins I've been looking at NIK Color Efex Pro; which seems quite nice; but not cheap. Is there anything out there that compares? I'm not a professional; but I'd like to have professional results.

I have Filters Unlimited 2.0. I think it's a great plug-in and can also be used with Irfanview's free software. http://www.icnet.de/filters_unlimited/ After buying F.U. 2.0 you can download the free aged photo plug-in. Does a great job. If you manage to collect an arsenal of plugins over time then you can but a plugin manager from the same company. I had it installed but had no use for it as I found filters unlimited was all I needed.

There are a lot of free ones out there, too.

There are some nice ones on Fred Mmiranda's Site. They are pretty inexpensive. I have a bunch of them and they work really well. http://www.fredmiranda.com/software/

No one should be without the Virtual Photographer plugin, especially since it's free(!) http://www.optikvervelabs.com/

Have a look at http://www.1clickactions.com most of the actions are for useful adjustments rather than far-out effects.
